DSLR vs SLR Photography: My views

I just met a new friend, an ex-slr photographer, also an owner of a photo shop. I know him because of an introduction from my dearest girlfriend, the first time i stepped into the shop i thought is just an ordinary photo shop, but when i went into the shop for the second time, boy it was a real brainer. It made me think about lots of things. Although what he told me was about discouraging me to step into the modern photography world, but i got myself some different thoughts about it instead of feeling upset and discouraged. And...i got myself to write this article that pushes me harder to pursue my hobby!

Very very long time ago, a film-photographer is well respected by everyone. A nice photo can be very costly to produce in that period of time. But the appearance of the first batch of digital camera makes the expert film techniques become pieces of shit, a lot of photographer lost their job in just one revolutionary night. So a slr expert asked: 'what is the value of a photo? We bought the best camera and the best lens to get is just nothing today.' I think is needless to answer this question right? every photographer will got an answer inside their mind.

Speaking about modern photography, skill and technique are no longer strongly recommend compare with old school photography. The technique they need is to master the usage of the computer softwares like HDR, ADOBE Photoshop, etc. With the assistances of all kinds of software, a perfect photo can be achieved by any photographer. That means the only reason for not getting a ‘great’ shot is because the person is lazy.

Plus the concept of lens usage are slightly different too. The old photographers buy their lens for the color perfection. But a modern users buy expensive lenses because of they need to cover up all the range to take different kinds of photo and not just color perfection, like L-lens from Canon and the G-lens from Nikon, they got the water resistance also. This made my mind asked myself a question:'Why the film camera lens still remain fungus-free until now even though both of them using it in the same situation?' Take note that i'm using singular and plural in the previous sentence, why the slr user just use a lens and why dslr user lenses? please don't get confused and annoyed, what i'm trying to say is that the slr user just using few lenses or maybe only one lens to take a nice photo, they also mainly use their legs to adjust the range between them and the object. And they might stay at the same square inch of area for a few days just to take that shot. For dslr user, you can snap as much as you want and only choose the best because you don’t have to worry about wasting film.

And the most ironic and sarcastic that i heard from the owner, is some of the photography master's future are very very unexpected. When you saw a gang of poor uncle sitting together on the floor and chatting, they didn't beg for money or food, not mind disorder or other problem, they might be the best photographer in the old times. They don't have wife, children, career, house, cars...actually they got, just that they had chosen to buy lenses. Photography is really a hobby which can darken your future if you take it too seriously. And don't underestimate the cost of the slr and their accessories, their price can be compared or maybe much higher than dslr, what i know is that a good but not the best slr body can cost around 40k in that period of time, so how about a very very good lens plus the body? That will cost even more! Speaking about that, it recalls some of the deepest memories in my mind, when i passed by a camera shop about 1 an a half years ago, i heard someone said:'I really don't know what is the point that the fellow buys so many expensive lenses, i better get a nice one a keep the rest for doing other things.

So i got myself a new conclusion that makes my previous stronger, using dslr but remain the slr style, and not grow dependent on all the high tech functions that the dslr has to offer. We’ll only grow lazy in time. and i don't mind myself using only one lens to take all i want because i believe that lens is just a tool which controlled by the user. i do photography not because i can take better photo and earn money, but rather as a hobby. a hobby will become your burden that you will eventually grow to hatred if you choose it as your career unless you get yourself a good mindset. So i just take what i want and suit my feelings, that's all! And hope someone else will appreciate it and give comments that are within my control, and not suggestions of getting this or that lens and only spend more and more money!

OK! that is what i want to tell today, thank you for who finish this article and sorry to those feel offended, please take it as a stupid joke of a nobody if you really can't accept it,cause it is my thought, not yours, is unfair to ask you swallow it.

Comments and thoughts are highly appreciated, please correct me if something is wrong in my article.
